When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his first name. His memory is blank. But he’s not alone. When the lift’s doors open, Thomas finds himself surrounded by kids who welcome him to the Glade—a large, open expanse surrounded by stone walls.

Just like Thomas, the Gladers don’t know why or how they got to the Glade. All they know is that every morning the stone doors to the maze that surrounds them have opened. Every night they’ve closed tight. And every 30 days a new boy has been delivered in the lift.

Thomas was expected. But the next day, a girl is sent up—the first girl to ever arrive in the Glade. And more surprising yet is the message she delivers.

Thomas might be more important than he could ever guess. If only he could unlock the dark secrets buried within his mind.

I'm at a loss of words to describe The Maze Runner. Honestly. I finished it technically two days ago before the final cast party for The Crucible which was very bittersweet. Anyway, back to the point. I got it from J at our first book club on the 9th... so it was a very quick read.

The characters are also so so awesome, I loved the main character, Thomas, and my two favourite characters are Minho and Chuck!! They are very cool characters, the only thing that I wasn't really sure about was that the leaders of the group, Alby and Newt, seemed a lot older than teenagers, maybe just because they had to grow up fast... I'm not sure... What do you think? The plot was AMAZING gripping, chilling, twisted, turns were everywhere, and I'm pretty sure no one saw that ending coming. Every time I think about that plot, ugh! it was so amazing! Finally the dialogue, it was maybe the most confusing part of the book, with all sorts of "glade lingo" like shuck and shank and klunk, I'm actually not sure if its weird or sheer genius. I'm still figuring it out. (: Overall, The Maze Runner is definitely a book you should pick up if you want a face-paced read that will keep you at the edge of your seat!
xoxo,
Shelbie
