LOTW 13: Dress Lust

I just picked up Bewitching by Alex Flinn and I am in love with the cover. The dress on it is gorgeous and got me thinking about how many books have dresses I would die to have. It only made sense to me to make my list this week on my dress lust. So here is my five favorite dresses in no specific order.

LOTW 12: My favorite re-reads!

I love reading a great new book just as much as anyone else, but what I love even more is re-reading one of my favorite books. The following list highlights some of my favorite re-reads. These are books that read even better the second time around because you either notice things you didn't catch before, fall in love with the characters all over again, or just marvel at the wonderful writing. These are listed in no particular order.

1. The Anne of Green Gables series by L.M. Montgomery
You can't help but love Anne Shirley even more the second time around. It's fun to go back to the first book and see the differences between the little girl Anne and the grown up Anne.

2. Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte

Some may disagree with this one, but I absolutely love reading Wuthering Heights. It's always interesting seeing how your reactions to the characters change the more you read the book. Also, I'm a huge fan of Heathcliff even if no one else is.

3. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
Okay, so really any John Green book would work for this one. I absolutely love John Green's writing and could read his books over and over. His characters are extremely well developed, the plot line is always interesting, and his writing is just absolutely beautiful.

4. The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater
Like John Green, I could read any of Maggie Stiefvater's books ten times over and not be tired of them. However, this one is my absolute favorite. I've never read a book about anything like Stiefvater's water horses. This book has a strong female protagonist, a little romance, some suspense and danger, and a strong family element. And, as always, it is beautifully written by Maggie Stiefvater.
5. The Duff by Kody Keplinger
This is one of my all time favorite books. It is a little bit of lighter reading than the other books on my list, but still amazing. I love it because it has romance and a female protagonist that is incredibly easy to relate to.

6. Going Bovine by Libba Bray
This was one of the first YA novels that really impacted me. It has an incredible storyline and Libba Bray does an excellent job portraying the main character. I could read this one over and over again.


There are a lot of other books that I love to re-read, these are just some of my favorites.

LOTW 10: Favorite Bookish Websites

Good day readers! We haven't done a List of the Week in a LONG time, so I figured it was time to post one. This one is comprised of some of my favorite bookish websites (in no particular order). Enjoy!

1. Goodreads

Obviously this one isn't anything new and exciting, but it's great for all book lovers because of the reviews, customizable shelves, giveaways, quizzes etc.
2. Netgalley

This site is great for reviewers! Basically, its a website where bloggers/librarians/booksellers can request ebooks to review. I like it because its much faster than requesting an actual hardcopy and the review copies won't take up space on my bookshelf.

3. Paperback Swap

I actually just joined this site so I haven't had a chance to use it yet. But it has a really cool premise! Basically, you sign up, list the ISBN codes of some of the books you'd be willing to part with, and then you send them to people who want them and with every book you send you get one book credit to request a book from someone else. Its nice because it saves money, and it helps books receive more love :)

4. Free Book Friday

What can be better than getting free books? Nothing I tell ya. This website showcases different authors each week and each week gives away signed copies of that author's book. It's not just one book either, they give away a book from multiple genres each week including teens, romance, and indie. Its a great opportunity to learn about cool books and win signed copies of them.

5. vampirelibrary.com

Okay, this website will only be cool if you're into vampires. I like this website for when I want... well vampire books. This website is a website dedicated only to vampire books. Fiction and non-fiction included. So when you're craving vampires... go to this website for recommendations!

6. whatshouldireadnext.com

This website is for the reader who constantly runs out of reading options and has no idea what to read. Basically, you type in a favorite book or author, click the one that matches best, and it gives you a list of books similar to that author/book. Way cool.

7. Edelweiss

This is another cool website for bloggers. Its an online publisher's catalog that combines the catalogs of several publishers' sites into one big site. Its also really cool because it supplies tools that tell you what books are being talked about now, books that won awards, etc. It also has a tool like Netgalley to request digital ARC review copies. I recommend this for the bloggers out there.

8. Publisher's websites- for teens!

Overall, I also love websites hosted by publishers created for teens. They provide great recommendations, giveaways, author showcases and more. Some I like:

LOTW 10: Five things I love when home sick

Hey guys! So it has been a long time since we have done a list of the week... so obviously it is not a list of the week anymore. But anyways... I'm home sick so I thought this list was fitting. So here's my list, and I have a fun question for you below!

1. A Good Book

There's nothing better than a good book when you have to stay in bed all day. Right now I'm reading Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl (cute, shelbie is reading the sequel to my book!)

2. A cup of tea

When I'm home sick, I usually have a sore throat, cough, or headache. And I find that tea helps with all of those. I love mint tea with honey!

3. Fuzzy Socks or Slippers

They keep your feet nice and warm and just feel so nice!

4. A snuggly blanket

Who doesn't love snuggling with a blanket? I have the blue one in the picture above, and it is currently parked next to my teddy bear on my bed.

5. A Pillow Pet

To be fair... I don't actually have one of these yet, but I really want one! I asked for one for Christmas and really hope I get it. :)

Okay now for my question...

What type of books do you like to read when you're home sick?

Personally, I like something with a little romance and snark. Beautiful Creatures doesn't fit that description (at least not yet) but it's pretty dang good and I was already reading it so... yeah. Anyways, leave your anwers below!
